National Cheese Lovers Day is January 20, 2022, so it’s the perfect time to talk about a delectable new lease by Katz & Associates. David Yablon of Katz’s New York office represented the landlord KANO Real Estate Investments in a deal to bring the French Cheese Board to 56 Spring Street in Nolita, New York City. Helmsley Spear’s Christine Emery represented the French Cheese Board in the transaction.
The French Cheese Board’s existing lease was coming to an end and they wanted a larger space for their gourmet destination. Their new space at 56 Spring Street consists of 2,200 square feet on the ground and 1,375 square feet in the selling lower level. It will enable the Board, an ambassador of the French cheese experience, to host cooking lessons, cheese pairing sessions, interactive presentations, feature a boutique, and more. Its new home, anticipated to open summer 2022, will serve as a beacon for chefs, artists, bloggers, foodies, and cheese makers to explore and innovate.
Katz’s David Yablon shares, “The landlord was particular about who would be renting the space. They wanted the use to fit with the neighborhood and complement the existing tenants. By actively marketing the property, we were able to secure a lease with the French Cheese Board, which will be an asset.”
We’re excited to visit the French Cheese Board at its new home. In the meantime, a fun way to celebrate #NationalCheeseLoversDay is to have a wine and cheese party with family and friends (in person or virtually). As Holidayinsights.com shares, “Eating cheese makes you feel gouda. So, don’t be bleu. Eat some cheese on National Cheese Lovers Day.”
And, here are a couple fun, cheesy facts:
- The world’s largest cheese was put on display on this day in 1964 at the New York World’s Fair. It weighed over 34,000 pounds
- Americans consume over 31 pounds of cheese per year, but that’s nothing compared to the French who eat over 50 pounds of cheese per year.
About the French Cheese Board:
The French Cheese Board is a fab lab of ideas, where people can participate in cooking lessons, wine and cheese pairings sessions and interactive presentations dedicated to the art and craft of cheese. It serves as an ambassador of the French cheese & butter experience and a platform for conversations and debates about fromage and culture. As an open venue, the French Cheese Board hosts events and exhibits where food becomes the centerpiece and topic for engaged communication.
